The Municipal Court shall have, possess and exercise all the functions, powers, duties, authority and jurisdiction as provided by law.
The Judge of the Municipal Court shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of Council and shall hold office for a term of three years from the date of his appointment and until his successor is appointed and qualified, or for such period as is otherwise provided by law. The Judge of the Municipal Court shall be qualified by training, experience and such certifications/licenses as required by statute for the duties of his office. The Judge of the Municipal Court shall exercise the powers and perform the duties prescribed by general law and ordinance.
The Municipal Court Administrator shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of Council and shall hold office for a term of four years from the date of his appointment and until a successor is appointed and qualified, or for such period as is otherwise provided by law. Pursuant to Rule 7:7-1 of the Rules Governing the Courts of the State of New Jersey, the Judge of the Municipal Court may appoint the Court Administrator as Violations Clerk.
